Street Pastors

In 2010, the Malt Cross Trust set up the Nottingham branch of Street Pastors in affiliation with the Ascension Trust.

The project trains over 50 volunteers to patrol the city centre between 10pm-3am on Friday and Saturday nights to provide practical, non-judgemental help for those using the night-time economy and to support emergency services during this peak in demand. On an average weekend between 30,000-40,000 people visit, use and enjoy Nottingham’s nightlife.

Each Street Pastor volunteers once a month and patrols in groups of three or more. All of our volunteers are fully trained to assist intoxicated individuals, provide first aid, de-escalate violent incidents and signpost to support agencies for further help. They also give out items such as bottles of water to reduce intoxication and flip-flops to prevent cut feet.

Nottingham Street Pastors form a key part of the city centre’s management strategy and help achieve Nottingham’s Purple Flag Accreditation for a safe night out.

Nottingham Street Pastors gratefully receive support from the Nottinghamshire Police and Crime Commissioner and the Nottingham BID.
