Ale’Up Nottingham is a celebration of fine cask and craft ales served around the city, and the Malt Cross is one of this year’s venues. Between June 5th and July 16th, participants will follow a series of seven trails around Nottingham, visiting selected venues to enjoy a half or a pint of a featured ale, and have their map stamped by staff behind the bar. On completion of each trail, those taking part will make their way to Nottingham Tourism Centre or Brew Cavern in Flying Horse Walk to collect a limited-edition pin badge. Completing all seven trails will yield the full collection of stylish badges!
Fancy joining in? From June 5th, you can pick up a free trail map from Nottingham Tourism Centre, Brew Cavern, or right here in the Malt Cross, and choose one of the seven trails to follow. All the featured ales are named after a character in the Robin Hood story, and we are proud to serve Robin Hood Ale!
Why not start off at the Malt Cross? Built as a Victorian music hall in 1877, the Malt Cross is one of the most beautiful and celebrated venues in Nottinghamshire, its gorgeous original features and overarching windows framing a truly unique space. Our friendly staff are looking forward to welcoming our visitors and getting them started on their first trail.
Ale’Up Nottingham also features a complementary walking tour of the city each Sunday, which stops by the Malt Cross to enjoy a beer and discover the chequered history of our incredible venue. The tours will be led by a professional comedian and will be packed with amusing anecdotes and fascinating trivia about the city.
