Malt Cross Secures Double Nomination at the 2026/27 Visit East Midlands Tourism Awards

We’re delighted to have been recognised in both the Pub of the Year and Casual Dining categories.

As one of the UK’s few surviving Victorian music halls, Malt Cross has been welcoming visitors since 1877. Today, we continue to bring together heritage, hospitality and culture under our iconic domed glass roof, offering freshly prepared food, local drinks, live entertainment and community events in a setting unlike anywhere else in Nottingham.

Our nomination in the Casual Dining category reflects the continued growth of our food and drink offering. From locally brewed ales and craft beers to our own Malt Cross Lager, developed in partnership with a Nottinghamshire brewery, we are proud to champion local suppliers while offering a menu with vegetarian, vegan and gluten-free options for our customers.

As part of YMCA Robin Hood Group, every visit to Malt Cross helps support wider community initiatives. Surplus generated through our food, drink and events contributes to YMCA’s work with young people, families and people experiencing homelessness. We are also proud to be the home of Nottingham Street Pastors, whose volunteers support vulnerable people in the city centre during the night-time economy.

Over the last year, we’ve continued to strengthen our position as one of Nottingham’s most distinctive destinations. We saw sales increase by 42% year-on-year, expanded our programme of inclusive events and reached more people than ever before through our growing digital channels, helping introduce new audiences to everything Malt Cross has to offer.

Joel Lydamore, General Manager at Malt Cross, said:

“To be recognised in two categories at the Visit East Midlands Tourism Awards is a fantastic achievement for Malt Cross and everyone involved in making the venue such a special place. These nominations reflect not only the hard work of our team but also the support of our customers, performers, partners and wider community.”

Winners will be announced at the Visit East Midlands Tourism Awards ceremony early next year, where the region’s leading tourism, hospitality and visitor economy businesses will come together to celebrate excellence across the sector.

At our heart, we open our doors every day with one simple aim: to make life in Nottingham that little bit better. Whether you’re joining us for a drink, enjoying a meal, discovering our history, attending an event or simply admiring the architecture, every visit helps preserve an important heritage building while supporting good causes in our city.

Being recognised on a regional stage for the second consecutive year is something we’re incredibly proud of, and we’d like to thank everyone who has supported us along the way.

We’d like to say a huge thank you to our customers, visitors, performers, partners and supporters who have helped us get here. Your continued support, whether that’s joining us for a coffee, pint, meal, event or simply recommending us to others, has played a vital role in this achievement. We look forward to welcoming you through our doors and sharing the next chapter of the Malt Cross story together.
